Our kiddos!

We are in Guangzhou!

We made it safely to Guangzhou! We are settling in our hotel and will be meeting the other four families for dinner. We plan on crashing (or trying to) tonight so we can get some sleep. We are feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed, a bit unsure of what's to come, and all sorts of other feelings. PLEASE pray for our "gotcha day" tomorrow as we know Jesiah will be making a huge transition. Sometime in the past few weeks he left his foster family to return back to the orphanage and now he will be disrupted again to come to us. We know God is in control and have been very prayerful for months about his arrival into our family so we know eventually it will be okay. We would like prayers that we will understand his needs, he will understand he is safe and come to trust us, and that we will be able to earn his love and trust. We would also like prayers that Jesiah feels a peace and that he will understand that we love him and that we will do whatever we need to take care of him because he is our son. I can't imagine how overwhelming all of this is on the kiddos being adopted. We will meet Jesiah about 2:30 am Monday morning for you. I will blog as soon as I can with lots of pictures!!!

We go into tomorrow remembering my favorite scripture verse.

Phil. 4:13- I can do ALL THINGS through Christ which strengthens me.

  1. You can do this. It certainly understandable to feel nervous; I most certainly did with Juliese who we adopted from Guangzhou and had the same situation (foster care and then move her back to the orphanage). By chance is Chris Xiaolei Zhen one of your social workers for Holt? Please say hi for us and tell him we are the ones who he helped Juliese meet her foster family in May when we adopted Joelle. He is a Christian.
Will be praying until I crash tonight. Funny, I think the transitions for you and Jesiah is going to be easier than you think that is what we are asking the Lord to bless you with--a piece of cake transition!
    Blessings!

  2. Hoping and praying that Jesiah will peacefully transition. But if not, just being there for him will lay the foundation for gaining his trust and acceptance. XOXO -Anne

  3. You know me, I'm a crier & it doesn't take much when it comes to this little guy! I'm such a mess for you! lol We are praying! I know you have to prepare yourselves that this could be/should be very hard on him, but I am praying so hard that just as the Lord has made a way here in the states all along that He would have been doing a work in Jesiah's little life too! I pray that somehow he may even recognize you as his forever family from heaven!!!

  4. Jenni- Thank you so much for the prayers. We love you guys and are si thankful for you! I'm praying too and asking that it's a piece of cake. We are getting ready for breakfast, we have a Holt meeting at 11:00 and then we are off shortly after that! I'm not sure about Chris but I will ask and find out!

Anne- Thank you so much! We love you and thank you for following our journey and being so supportive. It makes a world of difference. Keep the prayers going!!

Dy :)- You crack me up! This trip has had so many "God prints" on it that I can't wait to share it all in person! Start practicing the nickname "Jie Jie" because that's what we found out he goes by often. Kaylee thinks it's like "Princess Gi Gi" and I told her it was close :). We love you all too and are so thankful for the countless hours spent making this happen. God is with us and we know, eventually if not today, it will all be okay!!
